Perfectly Flawed

Perfectly Flawed is the 6th release in an ever growing library by the Arizona native featuring a slew of new guest appearances from Keno, A-Fluent, Reginald James Pace, Kasey Quinn, and full production by Tony Carolina. Albeit shorter than previous albums, this project takes a less is more approach, and executes it well. Backed by a collection of beats sick enough to give your ear an infection, Confession dives into several relationship based scenarios; good, bad, and the ugly.

"Translation" touches on the double entendres of playing the nice guy at the bar, who's trying to play it smooth enough for a night cap. The light-hearted song ends with the tables being turned in a humerous twist. One of which I hope to never see. "I'm Good" is laced with infectious synths and a rhythm that instantly draws you in from the jump. Hands down the party anthem of the collection, it leaves you salivating for a little sip of something, but by tracks end, you're already feeling a little tipsy.

Through the rises and falls of the song concepts in the album, the title track featuring Kasey Quinn drives the album to a fast-paced close, bringing with it an understanding that no relationship is perfect. There will be positives; there will be negatives. But if you're willing to work for it, the end result is much like this album; fulfilling and has you anxiously awaiting what comes next!

Still Sinful

For some artists it's hard enough to shake the sophmore album curse. This seems like a "brush your shoulders off" situation in this case. Hot off the well-received Hell or High Water mixtape, Confession hits fans with a verbal round-house to the chin with his 5th studio album, Still Sinful, this time with an arsenal of fully-loaded beats from various producers including Coach, Stump and Tyler Chaz, to name a few.

The speed of the verbal onslaught has been turned up a few notches with such quick-spitting tracks as "Don't Play" and "Turn It Up", which features frequent collaborators Keno, Minkis and Richie Z to round the bases for a Grand Slam. The slick as a salamander wordplay on the track is a piano & trumpet filled ode to female fans that are left only imagining what that fast tongue can do. Given the amount of output from the artist, "Addicted", featuring Coach, is a strike at the obvious; an addiction to hip-hop, seemingly through the weary eyes of an addict to the latter.

Frankly, I couldn't tell you my favorite song on the album; it would be impossible! Every song on this 15-track project is completely solid to stand on it's own as a single, and I don't state that lightly. Five albums in and the content is only improving. Can it possibly get any better? I see nothing but good things on the horizon.

Sincerely Yours

The 4th official studio release in a two year time frame; the 17-track (18 with the bonus remix) album shows signs of growth and maturity. The intro to the album, "Opening", gives the album a promising start with a stringy melody with a weary feeling over a pen scratching to paper and a few words as if reciting a letter. "What's Come Over Me" delivers some seductive wordplay over a smooth bassline and synths with sultry vocals by a female guest appearance in an explosive collaboration; pun intended. "Rain On Me" is by far one of the highlights of the album. The song itself if dedicated to a father stricken with cancer as a grieving son expresses his thoughts. The beat is simple, yet intricate, with production by Coach (Desert Reign Productions) who laces the beat with piano chords that pull at your heart with each bar Confession spits.

The album is ended in the same way it started, as if closing a letter. Sincerely Yours flows with effortless liquidity as it explains the struggles and victories a young man has faced over a period of time as if catching up with an old acquaintance. The bonus track,"Hey Now", is a trunk rattling, organ fueled banger that will surely leave you singing its infectious hook. The 4th release in two years, with a few features from Coach, Chantelle, Kieng, Tranette and Keno; the sense of hunger is blatant. With enough material to put out a greatest hits album, I'm excited to see what comes next as I foresee no signs of stopping.

The Movie Music Movement

Experimenting with his love for music as a whole, Confession created a 14-track tribute to the art form. Eliminating a pen and pad from the equation and taking it back to the basics of a man and a keyboard. Grasping the concept of cinematic jazzy instrumentation infused with a hip-hop touch, The Movie Music Movement does not disappoint. This 14-track expedition takes listeners through the intense and calming, adventurous and restricted, embattled and seductive.

"Irresistible" is an alluring Spanish guitar and string instrumental over silky congo drum pattern. This track definitely sets the mood for a romantic evening of some grown folk activities. "All On The Line" is a reggaeton drum pattern behind a horn ensemble calling in the soldiers to march into an unrelenting battle. "Obstacles No More" is an undeniably addictive melody. The pimpish guitar strums, the heavy horns, the smooth breathy flute all mesh together in perfection. The track reaches many a climactic rise and fall of string chords, pianos and saxophones paired with drum breaks and crashes. This seven-minute highlight of the album is a constant thrill the entire time.

Overall, the complexity of the release is amazing coming from a hip-hop artist with an apparent eclectically influenced background. Straying from the path traveled too often, Confession takes a left turn and finds himself a new branch on the tree; and the fruit it bears is sweet.

Loose Ends

Loose Ends is a concept album of revamped material from Confession's musical beginnings with a few new tracks featuring Richie Z, Minkis Bone, Keno and guest appearances on skits from M12 and NonChalant (in character). The material is 17-track exploration of synths, strings and bass heavy melodies.

Some of the lyricism dates back to the uncensored 2002 underground release My Words with the majority from 2004's underrated New Beginnings proving good music stays relevant for years and further solidifying Confession as an artist, not just another rapper; as justified in the tongue-twisting "I Know". "Creep Sneak Crawl" is a seductive synth track aimed at temptation; "Father Figure" takes listeners on a ride to a few years with an incarcerated individual looking to connect with his child; "They Will Remember Me" is a prophetic insight into the life of music beyond that of the artist. Loose Ends is an instant classic to Confession fans, longtime and new, bringing back that raw unapologetic sound the game's been missing.

The Moment of Truth

The first official studio release! The album is a 22-track collection of raw music featuring St. Jerome, Cali, Coach, Stump, Mr.88k, Keno, and Warrior Poet. The album touches on a wide spectrum of topics from an unfortunately low lit club and hilarious experiences therein ("I Gotta Go") and a story of two people who make poor choices and the preceding consequences ("Consequences") to more somber songs about a couple with the inability to have children ("Depths of a Soul") and a remorseful man trying to be heard ("I Apologize").

Looking for acknowledgement in an otherwise unrelenting and unapologetic industry, and armed with the blazing hot "Crushed" and bonus acoustic version of "Depths of a Soul" – Confession is a force to be reckoned with and won't be denied his rightful place in the game.
